Who are your burlesque classes for?

Our burlesque courses are for people of all gender expressions and identities. We want to create a space that is safe for everyone to express themselves and explore their sensuality. As long as you come into our space respectfully, you are welcome.

What Should I wear for a burlesque class?

WHAT TO WEAR TO CLAS.mp4

We want you to feel comfortable in our classes, so we invite you to wear whatever makes you feel good. We recommend clothing that allows for free movement and means that you can what your body is doing. Some people like to dress up for our classes, but there's no requirement to do so!

Examples of what to wear include gym shorts and a t-shirt, a bodysuit, a pole set, lingerie, leggings and a bra, stockings and bloomers.

Do I need to wear heels?

We invite our students to bring low dance heels to class if they want to practice in them. This means character or latin/ballroom shoes, not pleaser heels. However, you do not need to bring or wear heels in our classes - The choreography will work just as well without!

If you're looking for somewhere to buy a pair of heels, Everglowing is an ambassador for Dance and Sway. You can get a discount on your shoes by using the code Everglowing15, and there are plenty of affordable options. It's best to get them in a flared heel and nothing much over 8cm for your first pair.

As these shoes are custom made, we recommend measuring your feet first to check sizing, as they can't be returned. The typical delivery time is two weeks.

When will the next round of Courses be released?

We teach our burlesque courses in four-week blocks, and some courses can sell out very quickly.

We announce the release date for our courses on our Instagram page and in our monthly newsletter. The best way to keep up to date with release dates is to be a follower of both of those. To sign up to our newsletter, you can join our mailing list at the bottom of this page.

How much do your burlesque classes cost?

Our four-week burlesque courses cost between £44 and £48 depending on the length of the class. We will also have some low income spaces available for a lower price.

Our Sunday stretch and flexibility classes cost £12 per class. Our Sunday technique classes cost £11 per class.

What should i bring to a burlesque class?

You might find it useful to bring a water bottle to our classes, as well as layers that you can wear or remove depending on the temperature of the studio.

Some of our classes involve floorwork, and in these cases we recommend that you bring kneepads. The teacher will have some spares with them, but if you have your own, please bring them along!

Some classes involve the use of a prop, like a pair of gloves, a feather boa, a hat or a cane. These props will be provided by the teacher, unless otherwise stated.

what can i expect from a burlesque course?

In one of our four-week burlesque courses, you will learn a short routine between one and a half and two minutes long. You will learn choreography over four weeks, consolidating the moves in each class and also learning burlesque technique to help broaden your dance vocabulary.

Classes are kept relatively small to allow everyone the space to move and give you the chance to ask questions and get feedback from the teacher. We include a grounding exercise and warmup at the beginning of each class to ensure that we're all ready to dance together.

If you're feeling nervous about booking onto to a burlesque course, you might want to try a one-off stretch and technique class or a workshop first to meet our teachers and get a feel for what Everglowing classes are like.

How do I get involved in performing?

We want our students to have the opportunity to perform in both groups and solos, if they want to develop their burlesque experience. We organise an annual showcase to give you the opportunity to perform a routine that you have learned in class onstage, as well as offering a few solo slots.

We also sometimes have opportunities to perform as part of other events, such as the Velvet Peacock and other promotors. These opportunities are advertised internally to our students and sometimes shared on Instagram.

The best way perform with us is to regularly join our courses, where you will hear about these opportunities first.
